Abstract

he unique characteristics of digital products, which distinguish them from
conventional goods and/or services, create a potential legal risk where businesses
can make changes without prior notification, thereby harming consumers. The
purpose of this study is to analyze how consumer protection for digital products is
addressed regarding unilateral changes. This research uses a normative legal
method, employing literature studies and existing legal regulations, particularly
Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The findings indicate that
Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection and other regulations, such as the ITE
Law, do not yet fully protect the rights of digital product consumers. Therefore, it
is timely to review the Consumer Protection Law to better safeguard consumer rights.
