This research explores the implementation of maternity leave policies and wage
protection for female employees at SMAK Kolese Santo Yusup Malang. The study
adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing questionnaires distributed to female staff
who have taken maternity leave, as well as in-depth interviews with school
management. The findings indicate that all respondents were granted the full
duration of maternity leave and continued to receive their full salary without
deductions or delays. Additionally, the school maintains clear internal policies
regulating leave procedures, approval mechanisms, and annual policy reviews.
Respondents reported no experiences of discrimination, changes in job position, or
reduced responsibilities after returning to work, reflecting a supportive and
equitable institutional environment. The study concludes that the maternity-related
employment policies at the institution are well-structured and effectively
implemented. However, it recommends the establishment of designated lactation
spaces to support the health and comfort of returning mothers, as well as the
enhancement of internal communication regarding employee rights and
procedures. These improvements are suggested to promote a more inclusive,
respectful, and gender-sensitive workplace, while also strengthening employee
well-being and institutional accountability in supporting the needs of working
mothers.
