The Kahayan River is a primary source of livelihood for the people of Palangka
Raya City, especially those living in floating houses. However, in recent years, the
water quality of the Kahayan River has experienced some decline due to increased
direct disposal of household waste into the river. This condition has impacted public health, damaged the aquatic ecosystem, and disrupted the use of the river for daily needs. Therefore, an active role is needed by the local government through
the Palangka Raya City Environmental Agency in efforts to control river water pollution. This study aims to determine and analyze the role of the Palangka Raya City Environmental Agency in controlling pollution of the Kahayan River due to floating house waste.
