This research addresses the issue of the clean water quality index in the Bleder
hamlet spring water source, which is managed through the principles of local
wisdom, namely the "merti tuk" tradition. Although the principle of local wisdom
has been applied in the preservation of water resources in the area through
traditional ceremonies and planting trees that conserve the spring source, the water
quality index still needs improvement. This study aims to analyze the
implementation of local wisdom principles in water resource conservation through
the "merti tuk" tradition in supporting a spring water source that meets the clean
water quality index. Merti Tuk is a traditional ritual organized by the local
community as a form of gratitude and respect for the spring water source (tuk),
which is the main source of life. The research method used is empirical legal
research with a qualitative approach, conducted through interviews and
observation.
The results of this study show that the Merti Tuk tradition functions as an effective
mechanism for the internalization and sustainable implementation of water
conservation principles. This ritual embodies local wisdom values, a respectful attitude towards the environment around the spring, and concrete conservation
efforts, including the establishment of prohibited zones around the spring, tree planting, and periodic cleaning of water channels integrated with the ritual.
However, its effectiveness is still not yet optimal, and thus requires support in the form of regulation and facilities from the government to be more effective.
