Legal Aspects of Laundry Waste Management as an Effort to Prevent
Pollution in the Kali Lunyu River, Klaten Utara District, Klaten Regency. The study
aims to assess the application of environmental law in managing wastewater from
small-scale laundry businesses and to identify the challenges faced in its
implementation. Using an empirical legal approach, data were collected through
interviews with the Environmental Agency and laundry business owners, supported
by relevant laws and legal documents.
The results show that most laundry businesses dispose of wastewater
directly into drainage systems without proper treatment, mainly due to limited
financial capacity, lack of knowledge, and low legal awareness. The absence of
specific local regulations has also weakened supervision and enforcement. This
study contributes to the development of environmental law by emphasizing the need
for regional regulations and stronger legal awareness to support sustainable
pollution prevention.
