This study assesses the effectiveness of household waste management by
BUMDes Makmur Mandiri in preventing environmental pollution in Sendangtirto
Village and identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors involved. Using an
empirical legal method through interviews with BUMDes treasurers and the
Sleman Environmental Agency, the research finds that household waste
management has been effective, as indicated by improved service coverage, better
household-level waste sorting, and reduced illegal dumping and burning. This effectiveness is supported by village government assistance, technical guidance from the Environmental Agency, and growing community awareness, although operational capacity limitations and inconsistent household waste sorting remain challenges. The study concludes that BUMDes plays an important role in pollution prevention, although strengthening facilities and community participation is still required for more optimal household waste management.
