Final Disposal Site (TPA) for waste is a place where waste reaches the final
stage in the disposal process, one of which is in South Sumatra, specifically at
Simpang Kandis TPA which is located in Gunung Meraksa Village, Lubuk Batang
District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, Baturaja City. The formulation of the
problem in this research is: What is the role of the Environmental Service's
obstacles and solutions in controlling leachate pollution at the Simpang Kandis
Final Waste Disposal Site, Baturaja City, South Sumatra?Leachate is produced due
to suboptimal waste management at landfills, especially landfills that still
implement a sanitary landfill system. In carrying out its role and duties in
controlling leachate pollution, the Environmental Service carries out two efforts,
namely preventive and repressive efforts. The obstacle faced by DLH in controlling
leachate is that the land dispute affects the performance of the Environmental Service in following up on waste volumes, including handling leachate, which is
less than optimal. The efforts made by DLH to overcome tresbut obstacles are that
DLH is trying to create a certificate of ownership so that ownership rights to the land fall into the hands of DLH so that the TPA once again has a large area of land.
