The management of used oil waste is a crucial aspect of environmental protection,
particularly in the automotive repair industry. Improper disposal of used oil waste
can cause environmental pollution, negatively impacting ecosystems and public
health. This study aims to analyze the legal aspects of used oil waste management
by workshop business operators in Majalengka Regency and evaluate the
effectiveness of existing regulations in preventing environmental pollution. This
research employs an empirical juridical method with a descriptive-analytical
approach. Data were obtained through a literature review of relevant regulations
and interviews with workshop business operators and related institutions. The
findings indicate that used oil waste management in Majalengka Regency still faces
various challenges, including a lack of legal awareness among business operators,
insufficient waste management facilities, and weak supervision by authorities.
Although regulations governing used oil waste management are in place, their
implementation remains suboptimal. Based on the research findings, there is a need
for increased dissemination of regulations, stricter supervision, and collaboration
between the government, business operators, and the community to improve used
oil waste management. Thus, preventing environmental pollution caused by used
oil waste can be more effectively implemented to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
