The Insurance Sector is a sector that has a very important role in advancing the
welfare of society and advancing the country's economy. Because of this, the
insurance sector should provide maximum service to customers. However, in reality
there are still many cases of insurance defaults that occur in Indonesia. Therefore,
the government provides an expansion of the function and authority of the Deposit
Insurance Agency, which previously guaranteed customer deposits in the banking
sector only, but the scope of its functions includes, namely guaranteeing customer
insurance deposits. Therefore, in writing this thesis, it examines the role of the
Deposit Insurance Agency in guaranteeing insurance policy customers using
normative legal research methods, namely studying regulations, and the history of
insurance development. Based on this research, the Deposit Insurance Agency in
guaranteeing insurance policies has several duties and authorities in guaranteeing,
namely requiring insurance companies to participate in policy guarantees with
several conditions that must be met by insurance companies that will apply in 2028,
conducting routine observations on the company's financial condition, and taking
over insurance companies whose business licenses have been revoked in the form
of liquidation. The existence of these duties and authorities is to provide protection
to policyholders and maintain the stability of the insurance industry.
