This thesis is entitled "Plastic Waste Management in Bantul Regency After the
Closure of Piyungan Landfill". In this modern era, society is always looking for and
innovating to make new products made of plastic, plastic materials are the choice
today because they are efficient, cheap, and liked by many people. Waste
management is a systematic activity that includes reducing and handling waste,
aimed at improving public health and environmental quality. Piyungan Landfill
(Final Disposal Site) is a regional waste management facility owned by the
Yogyakarta Special Region Government. The research method used is empirical
legal research, namely research that focuses on social facts. This research was
conducted directly with informants to obtain primary data as the main data and
supported by secondary data. The results of the study indicate that plastic waste
management in Bantul Regency after the Closure of Piyungan Landfill has been
running but has not been running optimally. There are several obstacles in the
management of plastic waste after the closure of Piyungan Landfill, for example,
the lack of public awareness in using plastic and sorting waste, there are no special
rules governing the use of plastic, and limited land and tools to manage plastic
waste.
