This study aims to examine the role of the Environmental Agency in
overseeing the Tamanmartani Final Waste Disposal Site (TPST) as an effort to
prevent environmental pollution in the Kalasan Subdistrict, Sleman Regency. The
increasing waste generation in urban areas has led to the need for efficient waste
management practices, which are closely related to environmental protection. The
Tamanmartani TPST plays a significant role in waste processing in the region,
and its operational effectiveness is influenced by the monitoring and regulation
conducted by the Environmental Agency. This research employs a empirical
approach, using interviews, field observations, and document analysis to collect
data. The findings suggest that while the Environmental Agency has made efforts
in overseeing the TPST, challenges such as limited human resources, inadequate
infrastructure, and community participation hinder the full effectiveness of waste
management and pollution prevention. The study concludes with
recommendations for enhancing monitoring activities, improving coordination
between stakeholders, and increasing public awareness to ensure better waste
management and environmental protection in the Kalasan Subdistrict.
