This research aims to analyze the application of river boundaries as residential
areas in accordance with Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2021 concerning the
General Spatial Plan of Yogyakarta City. The methods used are documentation
studies and field surveys to identify the condition of river boundaries and their
impact on spatial planning. The results showed that the implementation of river
boundaries has not been fully implemented in regulating land use, with
development that violates the provisions still found. In addition, public awareness
of the importance of maintaining river boundaries is still low. The conclusion of
this research is the need to emphasize stricter rule enforcement and socialization
to the community to maintain the sustainability of the river ecosystem, prevent
environmental disasters and implement spatial planning for riparian areas.
