The Special Region of Yogyakarta is home to several renowned tourist destinations, which
has led to the construction of numerous hotels, including Hotel Porta by Ambarrukmo
Yogyakarta. However, the presence of hotels can negatively impact the environment due to
the significant amount of waste they generate, necessitating supervision from the relevant
authorities. Therefore, this study aims to examine the supervision conducted by the
Environmental Agency of Sleman Regency on the waste management practices of Hotel
Porta by Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta as an effort to prevent water pollution in Sleman
Regency. This research employs an empirical legal research method. The findings of this
study reveal that the supervision carried out by the Environmental Agency of Sleman
Regency on the waste management practices of Hotel Porta by Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta is
conducted indirectly through the self-monitoring method. It should be noted that this
method does not adequately provide preventive measures to mitigate environmental
damage, as there is often a discrepancy between the documentation and the actual
conditions in the field. Furthermore, the Environmental Agency of Sleman Regency has not
sufficiently implemented preventive efforts to protect the environment, as they tend to act
only after receiving public complaints, which indicates that environmental damage has already occurred before any action is taken
