Walhi is a non-governmental organization that plays an active role in protecting
and fighting for environmental rights in Indonesia and has the right to file a lawsuit
based on Article 92 of Law Number 32 of 2009. This research aims to find out the
role of Walhi, obstacles, solutions, and efforts faced by Walhi in preventing
pollution due to waste in Bantul Regency. The type of research used is empirical
legal research. WALHI plays a strategic role in overcoming waste pollution in
Bantul through policy advocacy and public education. Challenges faced include
slow government response and lack of infrastructure. Solutions offered include
collaboration of all parties, optimization of TPS 3R, a waste management roadmap,
and the application of environmental compensation. This step is expected to create
effective sustainable waste management.
