This legal research examines the legal responsibilities of vegetable vendors at Pasar
Kolombo in Sleman regarding their waste management practices. The primary
objective of this research is to gain insights into the enforcement of legal regulations
that govern market waste management. The focus is on the most fundamental group
involved in this issue, specifically the market vendors who serve as economic actors
within the community. The research employs a quantitative method to analyze relevant
data. Among the various challenges faced by vegetable vendors, there are significant
limitations concerning cleanliness facilities. These include an inadequate number of
cleaning personnel and a lack of designated waste disposal sites specifically for the
market's use. Additionally, there are fundamental obstacles such as the vendors’
insufficient awareness of the legal regulations that pertain to their operations and
waste disposal responsibilities. The findings of this research reveal that the active
participation of vegetable vendors in maintaining environmental sustainability is not
yet at an optimal level. To address this issue, further outreach and educational
programs are necessary to enhance the vendors' understanding of their roles,
particularly in effectively sorting organic and inorganic waste. Raising public
awareness about applicable legal regulations is also crucial to foster a more
responsible waste management culture.
