The title of my final thesis is Protection of Republic Indonesia’s Police Department to
the Witness of drugs in the territorial jurisdiction of Sleman Police Department. The
purpose of this research is to find out whether the Police protection to the witnesses
of drugs in the territorial jurisdiction of Sleman Police Department correlated to UU
No. 13 Tahun 2006 is appropriate and also to find out the obstacle which able to
happened in the protection of witness. The method of this research which I used is
normative method, which is the research of doctrine of law that correlate to the
substance of Law. I prefer to the data secunder as primary data which gained from
interview and secondary data which gained from the basic Law and the expert in Law
also books and many more. The Analysis method of this research required to
qualitative method and inductive of mind method. According to pasal 1 ayat 1
Undang – Undang No.13 thn 2006 about the Protection of witnesses, victim’s witness
is a person who can give more informations for the interest of investigation, police
investigation, prosecution, and interrogation in court about a crime act which hearself,
see-self, and/ or occur-self. Nowadays, the presence of witness and victim in the
process of court not quite to get attention of people and the upholder of Law. So, it
needs protection of Law and security to the every common people who know or
discover a thing that can help to find the way out of Criminal Investigation Process
which happened and courageous of report to the upholder of Law. Within guarantee
which gave by Undang – Undang No. 13 thn 2006, about the protection of the Police
Department to witness and victim with the common people to fight drugs dealing as a
part of the protection. And besides that, the existence of Protection of Witness and
Victim League can help the witness to give testimony bravely.
