This research discusses the role of Indonesia's diplomatic representatives
towards Indonesian Citizens' Hajj Pilgrims who were deported by the Saudi
Arabia government authorities. This study aims to determine the role of the
Indonesian Representative in providing protection for Indonesian Citizens' Hajj
Pilgrims who were deported by Saudi Arabia, as well as to explore the obstacles
in providing protection for Indonesian Citizens' Hajj Pilgrims who are in Saudi
Arabia. The research method used in this research was a normative method that
focused on the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and Law
Number 8 of 2019 Concerning the Organization of Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimage.
The role of Diplomatic Representatives in dealing with problems involving
deported Indonesian Citizens' Hajj Pilgrims is by providing assistance and
making diplomatic efforts towards Saudi Arabia, such as increasing the quota for
Hajj. There are certain things that make providing protection difficult, such as
deported Indonesian Citizens' Hajj Pilgrims. It is due to these Pilgrims
specifically using Mujamalah Visas to travel without going through the registered
and accredited Special Hajj Organizer (PIHK). As a result, they are not properly
monitored by Indonesia's government
