On one side, mining contributes benefits to the country. On the other side, it has
potentials to destroy the environment. Thus, "there is no mining working that does not
destroy environment" saying is popular. The issue on this sector is supervision from
Environment Protection Agency (DLH) towards Bauxite Mining that aims to control
environmental damage at Sanggau Regency, in addition, any obstacles that occur
from the supervision.
This research is an empirical law research which data was gathered through
literature review and interviews with respondents. The finding of this reseparch is
Bauxite Mining at Kabupaten Sanggau is the largest bauxite minings at West Borneo.
The supervision of Sanggau Regency Bauxite Mining is done by Environment
Protection Agency and Mining Inspector, in supervising, Environment Protection
Agency faces obstacles such as lack of human resources, cost allocation, and others.
To conclude, Environment Protection Agency has done supervision, however, it is not
maximized yet. Hence, it would be a better option if Environment Protection Agency
owns a lab at Sanggau Regency that would facilitate them in doing research.
