The purpose of the law entitled Protection Law Python Reticulatus Against of illegal Wildlife
Trade DIY Under Law No. 5 Year 1990 About the Conservation of Natural Resources and
Ecosystems is to know and obtain data about the extent of legal protection Python Reticulatus
against the illegal wildlife trade and to identify and obtain data about what difficulties arise in the
context of giving out legal protections for Python Reticulatus in Province of Yogyakarta. The
method used is empirical legal research which refers to the fact or event that occurred in the
field. Legal principle used in this study is the legal principle of "Lex superiority derogat Legi
Priori". Analysis of secondary legal materials by looking for similarities, differences and
opinions of the informants. And the last is to compare between the primary law materials and
secondary legal materials. The results of this study is to find any violation of legal provisions in
trade of wildlife. Generally the form of violations is as provided for in Article 21 of Law - Law
of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems. The task of government in the
enforcement of criminal law against acts of illegal trade in wildlife in conducting the legalization
of the illegal wildlife trade activities.
