Coral reef ecosystems have an important role for many living things on this
earth. In the coral reef ecosystem live various sea creatures that can be used as a
source of food, a source of livelihood, and a source of foreign exchange for the
country through the tourism industry. The purpose of this study was to determine
the law enforcement of the perpetrators of destroying coral reefs in TNKT. Also to
find out what are the obstacles and solutions in protecting against damage to coral
reefs in the Togean Islands National Park. The results of this study are that legal
protection against coral reef damage in the Togean Islands National Park has been
running well in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. However, it needs
to be improved in terms of prevention by tightening supervision and law
enforcement for mining activities that have the potential to destroy coral reefs. The
obstacle is that the Regional Government of Tojo Una-Una Regency is a new area
originating from the expansion, so that it does not yet have the optimal capacity that
can be utilized to fully protect the damage to coral reefs. The solution pursued is to
propose to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) to become the second biosphere reserve in Central Sulawesi Province,
so that it will get various resources to protect coral reefs from damage.
