in the certain period of time. The discussion conducted on residential spatial change as adaptation

follows: Identity of the residents as part of a modern community is gradually more dominant than the
desire to reveal their identity as part of a traditional Javanese community. Nevertheless there are still
Batik skipper’s residences retaining Javanese architecture and Indische architecture characteristics
as symbol of social status of the Batik Skipper and Ketib; The space for religious activities is no longer
