Abstract

The title of this thesis is Legal Protection for Heirloom Dance of Keraton Kasultanan
Ngayogyakarta in terms of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 28 of 2014 about
Copyright. The aouthor conducts research by doing interviews and get the facts that Keraton
Kasultanan Ngayogyakarta’s dance is one of the cultural heritages which must be preserved.
As a heirloom dance, Keraton’s dance may not be changed and may not be commercialized
to maintain sacred values. Keraton’s efforts in maintaining dance sacredness are supported
by the Articles of Law 28 of 2014. Keraton’s protection and the copyrights’ protection are
expected to make heirloom dance sustainable by maintaining its authenticity.
