Abstract

Inheritance is the most difficult part of customary law in Bali, because of differences in some areas
within the customary law area in Bali. In the case of the heirs who converted to the traditional village
of Pekraman Batur, heirs who converted from Hinduism to Islam became the cause of the heirs to lose
their rights. The problem that arises is how the efforts of heirs who lose their rights as heirs because
they change their religion, according to traditional Balinese inheritance law and also become the
basic goal of this research. The results of this study indicate that heirs who convert from Hinduism to
other religions were no longer have the position of heirs because heirs who convert are considered no
longer able to carry out the obligations of traditional villages and families especially of Hindu
religious nature, but still can be given Jiwa Dana (grants). Efforts that can be carried out by heirs
who lose their rights because they change religion are mediation efforts in the family, which are
attended by parties and third parties (traditional leaders) as mediators and legal efforts that have
been guaranteed by legislation. Efforts that can be carried out by heirs who lose their rights because
