Abstract

The existence of the palm oil industry is expected to improve the economy of the
local community, but the existence of the palm oil industry also has a negative
impact in the form of pollution as a result of solid and liquid waste. The legal
issues raised were first, How to manage palm oil company waste as an effort to
prevent environmental pollution in Sambas Regency, secondly, Are there any
obstacles faced in managing palm oil company waste as an effort to control
environmental pollution in Sambas district. Data in empirical legal research was
collected through interviews with informants and literature studies. The
management of palm oil waste as an effort to prevent environmental pollution by
PT Rana Wastu Kencana in Sambas District has been done well, but it cannot be
separated from the constraints, namely the location of waste storage ponds
parallel to the ground surface, and B3 waste storage location of PT Rana Wastu
Kencana not yet strategic. His suggestion is that the PT Rana Wastu Kencana
Company needs to add IPAL ponds as one of the storage containers for liquid
waste management to have more storage capacity. The Department of
Environment needs to be more intensive in supervising related business actors in
managing palm oil waste.
