This thesis discusses review of virtual currency in the form of bitcoin as currency
and means of payment of the currency law. Normative research method is used in
this thesis. Normative research is research that focused on the positive legal
norms, for example The Regulation Act Law. This thesis was written to find and
analyze the bitcoin as currencies in terms of the currency Act. the law regulating
the currency the currency is the money spent by the unitary State of the Republic
of indonesia, so the bitcoin is not the currency in Indonesia. Bitcoin can still be
used as a means of payment due to the currency Act exempts the use of dollars in
international trade. so the bank indonesia regulation which prohibits the service
provider payment systems and financial technology providers in the transaction
processing transactions that use the bitcoin is contrary to the law of currency. So,
the author suggest to people to be careful using bitcoin in transactions. In
addition, bank indonesia should pay attention to the settings of the exclusion of
the use of the rupiah so that bank Indonesia regulation does not conflict with
currency law.
