Abstract

CV X is a packaging printing industry in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, that produces
paper bags and paper boxes for packaging. It is identified that one of the machines
for the manufacturing process is often breakdown which is the Oliver offset printing
machine. The main cause of the machine breakdown is the absence of preventive
maintenance, while the other causes are the old parts of the machine, the absence
of training that cause unreliable human resouurce who control the machine, and
the unstable electricity. Therefore, a preventive maintenance using an approach
called Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is designed to prevent the machine
breakdown. The steps of designing the Total Productive Maintenance starts with
introduction of TPM to all the employees, formation of TPM team, audit process of
the Oliver offset printing machine, data collection of Six Big Losses to calculate
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and designing 8 TPM pillars
implementation. Then, the employees aware of the importance of the prventive
maintenance to the machine and decide to implement autonomous maintenance
and focused improvement. After the implementation, the data collection of Six Big
Losses to calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness is conducted again to identify
the improvement after the implementation. As the result, the OEE percentage
increases from 78,875% to 79,858%. It is identified that TPM is qualified to prevent
machine breakdown.
