Abstract
This thesis discusses the role of the police in combating narcotics in the form of gorilla or
super tobacco. As for the formulation of the problem included in the form of questions.
Where narcotics of this type of gorilla tobacco or super tobacco is a new type of narcotics
that have been circulating in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. The presence of narcotics
is very disturbing for public order which causes a high level of crime in the society. The
police play a role in eradicating the narcotics for the safety of the community and this
narcotics is an item that doesn’t have any legal status in Indonesia except in the health
department with a dose that has been set according to the rules. Hence the purpose of this
research is to find out the role of the police in exterminate narcotics of gorilla tobacco or
super tobacco. Likewise the method of this thesis is using normative legal research methods.
normative method is a research method that is carried out / focuses on positive law in the
form of legislation. Based on the results of research that has been done, namely the
circulation of narcotics in the form of gorilla or super tobacco especially in Yogyakarta is
very high and users are large and the most of the users are among students. And the need
for more police officers, especially in the IT field in eradicating the narcotics.
