This research is entitled Article 56 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding
the fulfillment of the right to the assistance of legal counsel for the suspect in Yogyakarta
Police. This study aims to determine whether the investigator in conducting the investigation
has been in accordance with the applicable regulations so that in law enforcement be optimal.
The type of research conducted is normative legal research focusing on positive legal norms,
to complement the research is done in the form of information by storing data in the form of
literature study and interview. This research was conducted in Polresta Yogyakarta special in
Investigator (RESCRIMUM). The results show that legal supervision has not been conducted
optimally by the investigator against the suspect. This is due to factors in which most new
investigators have not had much practice experience, so the understanding of procedural law
is minimal. then complaints about the disbursement of legal aid funds are often a complaint

after the first court decision, this is where the complaints of legal aid agencies because they
