Abstract

Yogyakarta City is known as a student city, where there are many
educational facilities both formal and non-formal. Library is one of the
educational facilities that are non-formal which can be used by visitors of all
ages ranging from children, adults, to the elderly. Availability Public Library
in Sleman has not been adequately the needs of society, especially the growing
number of students each year. The capacity of a library building is also a
factor indicating that requires Yogyakarta Public Library which has a
capacity to accommodate visitor activity commensurate with their functions.
Convenience is also one of the factors that need to be considered during the
visitors are in the Library. By creating an atmosphere of natural and
processing building with a view of Tropical Architecture Approach, is
expected to be the answer to solving the problems in the planning and design
of this building Public Library. Tropical Architecture is one way to create an
atmosphere where there is a semblance of the natural characteristics and is
suitable to tropical climate which is also owned by Indonesia.
